All-Inclusive Review: Playa del Carmen Iberostar Tucan

sarafinatravel

We were so excited to bring our kids to Mexico! We had been to an adults only all-inclusive, and of course we loved it, but we did not know what to expect for a "family friendly" all-inclusive.

We did lots of research into a resort that had high quality, good value, and interesting things for our kids. We landed on Iberostar Tucan, basically because our kids LOVE animals and there are animals all over this resort. Literally! If you don't like to wake up to howling monkeys, this place isn't for you. My kids loved it, but luckily I already sleep with earplugs! :) They also loved the parrots, toucans, and peacocks! Again - they are everywhere.

We especially loved the nature area in the center of the resort. There is a small cave to walk through, wood bridges over changes in elevation, and a water fall section, which added lots of interest on walks from our room to the pool and beach!

The pools and the beach were absolutely gorgeous. There was one extremely big pool and then a lap pool. The pool has a few cabanas around it that can be reserved for the day for extra (affordable) cost, and I loved it! A great place to land and had electricity, which helped with my work projects! :). Also a great place for naps. The beach was beautiful and chairs and umbrellas were plentiful. There is a separate water and playground zone for young kids that is fenced in from the rest of the areas.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious! The seating outside was comfortable and service was great. We had the beach buffet for lunch. They had a grill section with burgers, and a specialty taco area that was really outstanding! Lots of fruit for us! Unlimited drinks and ice cream. Four or five specialty restaurants - you can have a set amount of reservations per how many nights you stay. We had three: Italian, Hibatchi, and Mexican. All wert very good!

In terms of activities, there was great entertainment at the main stage every night (See below picture of acrobats!), fun activities on the beach (e.g. competitions, Zumba class) and at the pool (e.g. inflatable obstacle course, water aerobics, dj). There is also an area to do specialty crafts. My kiddos painted pottery, which was glazed overnight. Great souvenirs! My favorite activity was the after dinner dance party for the kids!

The only downside of this resort is the room. Compared to our other all-inclusive experiences, the room really needed and update, and the air conditioning did not work that great. But most importantly, it was clean and the bathroom was updated enough for me. And we were hardly ever in our room! The kids did love helping themselves to the mini bar every day!

In sum, we cannot wait to get back!!
